Beckham takes on Italian cookery challenge
In HollywoodTuesday, January 19, 2010
The Armani underwear model is currently playing soccer for Italian club AC Milan, and he is determined to take advantage of his return to Europe by learning how to prepare classic pasta dishes.
And, when he has mastered his skills in the kitchen, Beckham intends to give his meals the ultimate taste test - by trying them out on his pal, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
Beckham tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "I've joined a culinary school and I'm on a course that entails 120 hours of lessons and cooking. It's something I've always wanted to do. I've always loved cooking. Now I'm in Italy, I want to learn how to make amazing pasta.
"It's gone from a small ambition of wanting to learn how to make pasta to the extreme of doing this course professional chefs do. It's something I'm passionate about.
"I don't know about cooking for a group of people at a dinner party quite yet, but you never know. I'd love to cook for Gordon, and I definitely will one day."
Pitt and Damon for 'Happy Feet' Sequel?
In Hollywood
Ocean's Eleven co-stars Brad Pitt and Matt Damon are reportedly set to reteam on the big screen -- for the sequel to family favorite Happy Feet.
The two actors haven't worked together since Ocean's Thirteen in 2007 but have both signed up to lend their voices to Happy Feet 2, according to Movieline.
Robin Williams and Elijah Wood will be reprising their roles in the penguin adventure, which is set for release next year.
It is not known whether Brittany Murphy's character Gloria will be recast or cut from the sequel. The Clueless star died in December after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home.
Avatar dumped in China for Confucius film
In Hollywood
Avatar has become China's most successful movie ever, which has angered some officials, who believe that title should belong to a Chinese film.
And the Los Angeles Times reports James Cameron's award-winning blockbuster is being pulled from a large majority of theatres much sooner than expected at the request of the state-run movie distributor China Film Group.
They want to replace the film in over 1,600 screens with a much-anticipated biography of Confucius, starring Chow-Yun Fat.
According to a report in the Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily, the move to pull Avatar from cinemas was made at the urging of propaganda officials who are concerned that the film is taking too much away from Chinese films.

In HollywoodFriday, January 15, 2010
So Lady Gaga was able to hydrate enough to make her Oprah appearance today and to convert the daytime talk-show host into one of her Little Monsters.
Now that Oprah has accepted her place as a Little Monster, it's only a matter of time before we're all sleeping in pods and making Haus of Gaga art.
It was also really nice of Gaga to bring Oprah some bow hair—not even the Queen of England got her own bow hair! Best friends for life, these two.
'Jurassic Park' Comes Back From Extinction
In Hollywood
Dinosaur-movie franchise Jurassic Park is set to take another bite out of the box office -- Hollywood bosses are planning to bring a second trilogy to the big screen.
The original 1993 film, starring Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, was a massive success, grossing $914 million worldwide and spawning two sequels.
Now, nine years after Jurassic Park III hit theaters in 2001, movie bosses are planning to let the dinosaurs roam the earth once again.
And Joe Johnston, who directed the third installment, reveals a new movie will be closely followed by two more.
He tells BoxOffice.com, "There is going to be a Jurassic Park IV. And it's going to be unlike anything you've seen. It breaks away from the first three -- it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy. It's going to be done in a completely different way.
"If you think of the first three as a trilogy, number four would be the beginning of a second trilogy. We just want to make them justified in their own right. We don't want to make sequel after sequel just because there's a market for it. We want to tell different, interesting stories."

Cross-shareholding between the two firms is part of the pact.

spiderman news
In HollywoodTuesday, January 12, 2010
Poor John Malkovich. Just days after the endearingly eccentric Being John Malkovich star officially signed on to play the villainous Vulture in Spider-Man 4, Sony has apparently decided to pull plug on the entire project. According to beloved Hollywood muckraker Nikki Finke, ongoing problems with the film's script have caused director Sam Raimi to quit the production, citing his inability to finish Spider-Man 4 in time for its the planned released date of Summer 2011. After that monumental domino fell, star Tobey Maguire and other castmembers quickly followed suit, bringing Malkovich's lifelong dream of starring in a massively-budgeted comic book flick to a tragic end.
Sony responded to the news with an upbeat press release in suspiciously quick fashion, as if they'd somehow anticipated this shocking turn of events:
"Culver City, CA (January 11, 2010) -- Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next Spider-Man hits theaters in the summer of 2012. Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced today they are moving forward with a film based on a script by James Vanderbilt that focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises."
Well, thank goodness Sony is sticking with the same writer whose problematic Spider-Man 4 script caused the film's director and the star to quit the entire franchise.
