This historic first Barclays Premier League fixture under manager Louis van Gaal is provisionally scheduled for Saturday 16 August*. The Reds will then face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday 23 August* before rounding off the opening few weeks of the league campaign with a trip to Turf Moor to take on newly-promoted Burnley. Van Gaal's men will also host Queens Park Rangers and visit Leicester City within the first five games of the new 2014/15 season, while the first local derby against Manchester City is pencilled in for Saturday 1 November* at the Etihad Stadium.
